Where We Started
In 1979 John Pace opened Tarheel Paving with the desire to bring high quality and efficient asphalt paving to Western North Carolina. John grew Tarheel Paving by always putting the customer first and providing high quality paving to every size customer. What began as a small seal coating operation has evolved into a family ran business that includes one asphalt plant, one sand screening yard, five working crews and two different shop locations. As we grow as a company we continue to uphold the values John Pace instilled 45 years ago; family feel, high quality and efficient asphalt paving for all of our customers.
Our Location
Our Headquarters remain in Hendersonville, North Carolina where we started 45 years ago. However, we operate in all of the surrounding areas such as upstate South Carolina, Buncombe county, Polk county, Rutherfordton county, Transylvania county and many more.
Asphalt Production
Our asphalt production started in 2001 in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Our asphalt plant is completely DOT certified, allowing us to provide timely, high quality and efficient service to every job we preform. Furthermore, We take pride in producing the highest quality asphalt to all of our present and future asphalt customers.
Our People
Tarheel Paving has been a family owned and operated company since John Pace opened the doors in 1979. Today the company is operated by his two sons; Ellis and Derrick Pace. We strive to instill a family feel in every aspect of our business. Our employees are the heartbeat of our organization, and each member is an extension of the Tarheel Paving family. Tarheel Today
Today Tarheel Paving currently leadership includes President John Pace; Vice Presidents Ellis and Derrick Pace; Manager Barry Bonnett; Office Manager Judy Jackson; Project Manager Dalton Friel and Asphalt Plant Manager Toby Grasty. Together, these team members continue to lead the family business that has operated for more than 45 years. We continue to instill family values in every aspect of our business, employing several different generations of families. Furthermore, we accumulate more than 200 combined years of asphalt paving experience.
